This banana + strawberry acai bowl is one of my family’s favorite breakfast. My hubby and daughters love to eat this for breakfast after returning from a morning surf. What family wouldn’t love having sorbet for breakfast?
If you have not tried an acai bowl, you’re probably asking, “So, what is an acai bowl?” To understand the acai bowl, you must first know the acai berry. Pronounced ah-sah-yee, acai is a fruit that comes from acai palm trees found in the Amazon of Brazil. These dark purple berries are filled with healthy antioxidants, amino acids, and essential fatty acids. Acai berry is a great source of energy for the body. It helps to fight off infections, and builds the body’s immune system. Overall, it is known as being a super food for anti-aging, weight loss, and overall health. Modern science has found that flash freeze-drying the acai berry is the best way to capture the vital nutrients in this fruit. 92% of the nutritional value is retained through this flash freeze-drying process.
Take the dark purple frozen pulp of the acai berry, which is packaged just like sorbet and can be located in the freezer section of health stores, such as Whole Foods. Put the frozen acai in a bowl; top it with granola, fresh fruits, and unsweetened coconut. This could easily become your favorite breakfast too!
