Description

These really easy made-from-scratch bakery style brownies are beyond moist, much like lava cake, and oh so delicious. A real family pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chunks (52-62% cocao)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks (16 tablespoons) unsalted butter
  • 5 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Powder sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  If using a convection oven, set it to 325 degrees F.
  2. Lightly grease a 9 x 12 inch pan.
  3. Melt the chocolate, sugar, and butter together in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave oh high.  Stir at 1-minute intervals.  The total time to melt this mixture will be 2-1/2 to 3 minutes. Let cool.
  4. Whisk the eggs and vanilla extract into the warm chocolate mixture
  5. In a separate bowl, sift the dry ingredients.
  6. In two stages, gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet batter until combined.
  7. Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake the brownies for 25 minutes, until the top is cracked and the center is still fudgy.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool before sprinkling with some powder sugar and cutting.
